Have any of you guys ever donated a bunch of toys/food/other to a local donation center? Have you volunteered at one of these donation centers? If not, you are missing out greatly.
They past few years, I have helped out with the FISH food bank toy giveaway in my town (Gig Harbor), and I can just tell you how good it feels to be able to walk around with people and help them pick out toys that they can just take to give to their children who would, without the center, not have any gifts.
One of my favorite members of the technology community, Chris Pirillo, got a chance of a lifetime. Sears donated a $500 gift certificate for him to give whatever he wanted to the people who need it most. He is also giving three other prize bundles to people who enter.
I would love to win the LEGO Wonderland prize bundle he is offering because every year that I can remember, I have gotten something LEGO for Christmas. Whether it was a big kit (such as a rocket ship), or just a few of those little packets, it is a great memory of mine, putting those LEGO's together on Christmas day. Winning this prize would not only bring back many great memories for me, but it would give me a chance to create these same memories for one, or many other children who won't have many toys this Christmas.
